Yu-mi is born to poor parents but receives a lot of attention thanks to her exceptional beauty and talent. Just before her college entrance exams, she is forced to transfer schools after her romantic relationship with her teacher is revealed. Ashamed that she didn’t get into a university after scoring poorly on her exams, she lies that she was admitted and starts to live a fake university life.

After her father's abrupt death, Yu-mi feels ashamed of her lie and finds work to take care of her family’s livelihood. There, she meets her boss Hyun-joo, the daughter of a rich family, and it makes her feel a sense of deprivation. She becomes furious after her belief in hard work paying off shatters, until one day, she impulsively runs away from her job after she realizes she’ll be fired soon.

Thanks to Ji-won, a friend she met during her fake university years, Yu-mi gets the chance to find a job at an academy. She decides to borrow Hyun-joo’s university degree to secure the job. Yu-mi forgets about her wish to be satisfied with her life and snatches a new opportunity when it arises. She starts to imitate the way Hyun-joo lives. People find this fake Yu-mi attractive and flock to her.

Yu-mi chooses to marry a promising businessman. She lives her life in satisfaction, until one day, she runs into Hyun-joo whom she had completely forgotten about. Hyun-joo, who is no longer financially stable, finds out that Yu-mi stole her name and academic background and starts to torment her. Yu-mi’s husband Ji-hoon becomes famous as a politician, and Yu-mi is cornered.

Yu-mi who was working busily because of Hyun-joo’s threats is shocked by Hyun-joo’s sudden exit, but she cannot show it. Although she didn’t want it, Yu-mi receives as much attention as Ji-hoon who is nearing success. Yu-mi feels an unknown sense of anxiousness and also finds out the secrets of her husband one by one.

Yu-mi and Ji-hoon's relationship worsens. When a scandal of his gets exposed, Ji-hoon looks as if he anticipated it and changes the public opinion in the direction he wants with thorough preparation. He controls Yu-mi, using her weaknesses. Ji-won starts to become suspicious of Yu-mi’s past, but Anna’s university degree is proven to be real and she cannot figure out who Hyun-joo is.

Ji-won investigates to uncover Yu-mi’s past, but she becomes more confused the more she finds out. After much internal struggle, Yu-mi visits Ji-won to confess her past as well as Ji-hoon’s secrets. Shocked, Ji-won tries her best to understand Yu-mi. Yu-mi acknowledges Ji-hoon is someone too strong to break down, so she decides to be at the center of a scandal. Ji-hoon succeeds as a politician.

After seeing success, Ji-hoon can no longer stand Yu-mi and plans to send her somewhere cut off from the world. Yu-mi discovers Ji-hoon’s plan too late and tries to execute her own plan through Ji-won, but Ji-won finds herself up against a wall. Yu-mi makes an important decision and Ji-won thinks on her feet. The exposure of the couple's secrets stirs a storm, but what became of Yu-mi?
